June’s Private Housing Building Permits Drop by 3.7%

Privately-owned housing units as counted by issued building permits came in at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,440,000 units. This number is 3.7% below the recorded rate in May, which was 1,496,000 and 15.3% below numbers in June 2022 when that rate came in at 922,000.
